According to the police, a firefight that occurred overnight in the southwest part of Charlotte between two groups of young men resulted in the death of one individual and the injury of many others.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident took place on Thursday evening about 11:30 p.m., after the groups began firing at each other on Apex Landing Way, which is located just off of Tyvola Road. The victim has been discovered to be Jah’Zir Jackson, who is 18 years old.
Al-Terrik Bogar, who is 18 years old, has also been charged by the authorities in connection with the shooting. More specifically, he has been charged with the following:
Inflicting serious injury while committing an assault with a lethal weapon with the intent to murder
Attempt to commit murder
In the course of his actions, he fired a firearm into occupied property, which resulted in the shooting of the second victim.
According to the police, one of the groups was in a car at the scene on Apex Landing Way, while the other group was located just across Tyvola Road in an apartment complex. When the guys in the automobile had finished exchanging gunfire, they crashed into a number of parked vehicles first. Two of the persons who were in the car were sent to the hospital, where one of them ultimately passed away.
One more individual, this one from the apartments, was also transported to the hospital for treatment.
CMPD reported that at least two of the individuals who were shot are 17 years old.
Major Ryan Butler of the Chicago Metropolitan Police Department stated that “there are family members and friends who are impacted by the outcome of the decisions that some individuals have made,” regardless of the circumstances that led to this occurrence having occurred.
In their investigation, the police determined that the incident was the result of rash and hasty judgments that have repercussions that last a lifetime.
