Family and friends mourn the loss of Shakiya Nicole Johnson, who passed away much too young. We ask that you remember her beautiful spirt and to live an abundant life to the fullest because it is much too short. A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Shakiya “Bitsy” Nicole Johnson left this world unexpectedly at the age of 20, on January 11, 2021. Born in Norfolk, VA to Pernell and Tekita Johnson, Shakiya grew up in the Tidewater area and graduated from Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, VA
Shakiya was a hard worker and a dedicated employee. She was ambitious and aspired to become a flight attendant at age 21. To say Shakiya was an animal lover is putting it mildly. She was energetic, kind, respectful, fiercely loyal to her friends and family. Shakiya had a wonderful sense of humor and could be extremely hilarious. She loved taking pictures and was very fashionable. Shakiya was an amazing young woman that held a special place in the hearts of many.
Shakiya was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal great grandparents and paternal grandparents Elton Brinkley and Athugla Bunch. She is survived by her parents, Tekita Johnson and Pernell Johnson (SaKeitha); special mom, Shemina Jones; siblings, Gabby Johnson, Ashia Coppage, Jakobi Johnson, Derwin Johnson, Skylar Johnson, Isaiah Grantham, Nachur Jones, Justine Jones and KeShera Jones; grandparents, Claude Banks III, Francine Roach, Velma Banks and Wanza Faltz; god brothers, Ja’Quan Lofton, Waykeem Shelton, Lazino Shelton and Isaiah Scott; aunts Temeka Munden (Corey), Jaleese Vontoure (Mike), Fran Roach, Jessica McNair (Marcus), Doris Brinkley; uncles, Kendal Banks (Alyssa) James Brinkley and Dontail Brinkley. As well as a host of cousins, great aunts, uncles and friends.
Shakiya had so much goodness, such a capacity you bring joy to others and a bright future. The world is a lesser place without her and she will be forever missed but never forgotten.
