The New York Times has published a bombshell report accusing singer Ryan Adams of sexual misconduct. And, his ex-wife Mandy Moore is one of the seven women who says that she was the victim of emotional abuse and sexual misconduct.
Adams and Moore were married from 2009 to 2016, and both have spoken publicly about their rocky relationship. Last fall, the This Is Us star told Glamour Magazine that she felt “spiritually and fundamentally stuck” when she was married to Adams, and she says he controlled her through music.

In response, Adams tweeted that Moore was the “spiritual equivalent of a soggy piece of cardboard,” and added that their relationship was doomed from the start because she “didn’t like the Melvins or BladeRunner.”
The singer also claimed that he didn’t remember their wedding because he was high on painkillers. In a now-deleted tweet, Adams wrote that when someone told him that he had married Moore, he thought they were joking, and there weren’t enough painkillers to numb the shock.
He later apologized for the tweets and said he was just trying to be funny.
Moore says she didn’t choose the right person, and marrying Adams was “not the smartest decision” she has ever made.
Six other women – all aspiring singers – have come forward and claimed that Adams was abusive by offering them mentorship and career opportunities in exchange for sex. And, if they turned him down, he harassed them.
According to The Daily Mail, one of those alleged victims says she was just 14 when Adams sexted her, and he also exposed himself to her on Skype.
Mandy Moore is a queen and deserved so much better. Think of all the music we missed because this boy was too insecure to value her talent. https://t.co/HnHJ8OeEfc

Moore says that “music was a point of control” for Adams. He took control of her music career in 2010 after she parted ways with her manager. And, she says he was psychologically abusive, telling her she wasn’t a real musician because she didn’t play an instrument.
The singer/actress says that Adams’ controlling behavior blocked her ability to make new connections in the music industry during a time that could have been very lucrative – her mid-to-late 20s.
She released her sixth album before they got married in 2009, and hasn’t released another since.
Moore and Adams divorced in 2016, and she is now married to musician Taylor Goldsmith.

Adams has denied the allegations made against him in the New York Times piece, and he has threatened legal action.
